          What if we let the whole down-town colonial Quito destroy? The clear reaction of most if not all people would be denial. Because we would be destroying a part of our identity, our history, our country. This is the same for the bullfighting activity. Bullfighting is a key part of Quito´s culture and tradition and must, therefore, be preserved.

          One of the principal features that bullfighting activity has is the cultural one. It came along with language and religion when the Ecuadorian culture starting forming. Because of this, it embodies Quito´s cultural mixture.

          The second important thing to take in account when speaking about this activity is the economic part of it. Bullfighting involves an economic aspect that enhances the wellbeing of the people in Quito.

          Finally, something that most of the people do not realize is that it also embraces a huge environmental factor. It helps to preserve the natural richness within the Distrito Metropolitano de Quito because of the conditions in which fighting bulls are breed.
